Both of us got credit cards before the application process. We wanted the benefits and knew we would need them at some points in the cycle. We were in debt to our credit cards for a few months at a time, and honestly being in debt was hard for me. Riley and I both had jobs, however, and we were able to pay it all off before graduation.

I think it’s important to be aware that applying and interviewing is very expensive, but that it’s an investment in your future.

If you need to take out a loan or use a credit card, do what you need to do to give yourself the right opportunities. Go to all the interviews you can, just be conservative in other areas of your life.
