After I get my daughter breakfast, I usually scour the kitchen for something to eat that is quick, but will hold me over until lunch. The past year I have been on a smoothie kick! They seem to hit the spot for breakfast. This Blueberry Banana Blast Smoothie is one of my current favorites.

I once dreamed of opening up my own little smoothie shop. There would be comfy chairs and couches with board games to play near by. It would be a place where people could gather and chat. I’d sell muffins (also one of my favorite things to make, like these Easy Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins!), tasty bagels, and my latest smoothie concoctions!

Besides this Blueberry Banana Blast, my Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie is my go to lately. However, that recipe will be shared another day.

I have always been a fan of smoothies. They are easy to make and you can pack them full of fruits and veggies.

When I was in high school, I made Orange Julius all the time. Especially on Sunday mornings for my family. Something about that sweet citrus taste was addicting.

I often made it for an early 4:45 am lifeguarding shift at the pool. One time I made the mistake of trying to transfer it in my car…still in the blender… It definitely tipped and spilled all over my front seat. I had to wait until after my shift to clean it up and let’s just say there were still crusties on the floor that refused to come up years later.

I eventually started tinkering around by adding in bananas and other fruit to my Orange Julius to give it a bit of a different flavor.

During college, I went on a green smoothie kick. I’d load my smoothies with spinach and then off set the grassy taste with bananas and pineapple.

I also played around with mango, kiwi, and mixed berries to create a variety of fruit smoothies. Blueberries and raspberries seemed to go together perfectly. So, I played around with ingredients until this Blueberry Banana Blast Smoothie came about.

It’s quick and easy. Plus, it makes for a great grab and go breakfast. Simply throw the ingredients in the blender and mix til well combined.

Hopefully you enjoy this recipe. Make it your own by adjusting the ingredients to add your own flare. Experimenting with various ingredients is half the fun when it comes to smoothie making.

What is your favorite smoothie or go to breakfast?
